Chairing the Joint Appropriation Committee on Jan 17th, GOP AZ Rep. Livingston makes completely clear the AZGOP Cuaucus’s intention to hold the old voucher program for disabled kids hostage to Governor Hobbs’s potential line-item veto of their pet universal vouchers, which benefit mainly wealthy elite private school-attending constituents getting a huge rebate on their massive private school tuitions.
Watch the exchange starting at 37:00 into the video to about 43:00. Livingston practically cackles like a supervillain as he promises that Governor Hobbs will be FORCED to line item ALL vouchers if she decides to line-item veto ANY vouchers.
Who will be to blame for tying disabled kids and their vouchers to the proverbial rail tracks? The GOP Caucus, of course. Who will THEY try to blame for THEIR cynical ploy to protect subsidies to the wealthiest elites and their restrictive (and far more expensive than the voucher cost) private and parochial schools? You know… and you now can hear their callus machinations straight from Livingston’s own mouth.
Of course, the entire session is worth watching to understand the pain points between Hobbs’ budget and the priorities of the AZGOP. They are legion.
