Secretary of Surrender Pete Hegseth told the House and Senate that no 60-day approval of the war in Iran is needed. That’s because the US lost the when it declared a one-way ceasefire on April 7, 2026.

Trump informed Congress that hostilities ended after the US put up a white flag 24 days ago.
US Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) ripped into Hegseth, saying at a Senate hearing:
“Mr. Secretary, this war is stuck. The Strait of Hormuz is closed. The Iranian regime is in place. The nuclear material is still in their hands. Americans are being crushed by higher costs, and it’s not clear to them at all what the goal of this war is.”
Kelly condemned Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth about Operation Epic Failure for rapidly burning through “years” worth of pricey munitions in Iran, for rhetoric suggesting American troops will kill those who surrender and for the need to sharply increase military spending.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) asked for evidence that any of the nearly 50 strikes on suspected drug boats in international waters had drugs and said the administration had yet to ask for congressional authorization of a war within the 60-day legal requirement, though that deadline has arrived.
Hegseth argued that the ceasefire with Iran has stopped the clock on that deadline. The US has flushed $25 billion down the drain in the Iran war with no results. “Iran knows how to neutralize restrictions, how to defend its interests and how to resist bullying,” said Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi.
TACO (“Trump Always Chickens Out) has arrived in Iran

- Trump sent JD Vance to negotiate an end to the war against Iran on April 11, 2026. Nothing was accomplished.
- Trump declared a ceasefire with Iran on April 16. It expired on April 23, with the Iranians refusing to surrender. Nothing was accomplished.
- Trump extended the ceasefire on April 22 with no deadline. A second round of peace talks never happened. Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz on March 2, and it has stayed closed.
- Caving in again, Trump on April 25 called off the travel of envoy Steve Witkoff and nepo baby Jared Kushner to Pakistan for peace talks just before they were set to leave.
- Iran’s president said Tehran would not re-enter peace negotiations so long as the US maintains its naval blockade of ships traveling to and from Iranian ports.
Iranians laugh at TACO
The Iran War is a military adventure with no point, and no end in sight, except for repeated US concessions.
The true price tag of the Iran war is closer to $50 billion, U.S. officials familiar with internal assessments told CBS News, roughly double the public estimate the Pentagon cited in congressional testimony this week.
