Hobbs Campaign Team Reacts to Republican Ill-Informed Condemnation of Governor’s First Two Re-Election Ads

That did not take long.

Within hours of Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs’s re-election campaign releasing their first two ads of the 2026 political season, the Republican Governors Association’s Communication Director, Kollin Crompton, sent out an email press release condemning them, writing:

“Good morning,

Katie Hobbs is back with her first ad of the 2026 election cycle, claiming she’s making Arizona work better. As governor, her record tells a different story.

  • Hobbs vetoed a bill to eliminate taxes on groceries
  • Vetoed NUMEROUS tax cuts, including No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime
  • Arizona is lacking 120,000 housing units, driving up costs for buyers
  • Seven straight months of year-over-year job losses, 14,000 lost between January and March
  • Arizona has ranked near the bottom in job creation

And let’s not forget: Hobbs is still entangled in an alleged pay-to-play scheme and is blowing off participating in the Democrat Attorney General’s investigation, setting up a massive feud between the leaders of the Democrat Party in Arizona.

“Hobbs’ tenure as governor is one defined by incompetence, scandal, and hardship. Arizona families are not better off than they were four years ago,” said RGA Communications Director Kollin Crompton. “She can run from that record, but she can’t hide.”

It also did not take long for Michael Beyer, Governor Hobbs’s re-election campaign Communications Director to issue a rapid-fire response with receipts to Crompton’s ill informed assertions, stating:

From working fast-food jobs and driving for Uber to helping families in need as a social worker, Katie Hobbs understands what Arizona families are going through because she’s lived it herself. That’s why, as Governor, Katie has focused on lowering costs by expanding school meals, reducing utility bills, and making housing more affordable across the state. While Washington drives up costs and fuels chaos, Katie Hobbs is focused on doing what she’s always done: fighting for Arizona families.”

Beyer also submitted background documentation showing Governor Hobbs’ economic record, including source material showing praise from Arizona Legislative Republicans, and comparing it with that of leading Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Andy Biggs.

  • Republicans have praised Gov. Hobbs’ budgets for being balanced, cutting taxes, and putting Arizonans first – including repealing the rental tax and providing Arizona families a tax rebate up to $750.
  • Hobbs’ executive budget proposed middle-class tax cuts that raise the standard deduction for 88 percent of Arizona taxpayers, give seniors an additional $6,000 tax deduction, and eliminate taxes on tips and overtime pay for Arizona workers. She has repeatedly called on legislative Republicans to put this tax cut on her desk, but they have refused.
  • Katie Hobbs has lowered energy costs through Power AZ and Efficiency Arizona, which has offered Arizona families an average of $7,000 in energy rebates.
  • Katie Hobbs has signed into law legislation that cuts red tape and lowers housing costs – and has even earned praise from the Trump administration after Phoenix rents fell year over year. She has made the largest investment in affordable housing in state history. And in 2024, Maricopa County led the nation in new housing units built.
  • According to the Joint Economic Committee led by David Schweikert, Arizona ranks 12th in the nation for nonfarm payroll employment growth, 7th in private-sector payroll employment growth over the past 12 months, and added more than 20,000 private-sector jobs over the last year.
  • Katie Hobbs has forgiven over $642 million in medical debt for 642,000 Arizonans at no cost to the state.

Andy Biggs’ cost-hiking record

  • After supporting Washington DC’s price-hiking policies, Andy Biggs claimed inflation had been “tamed.”
  • Andy Biggs voted for the partisan budget that sent healthcare premiums skyrocketing, slashed Medicaid funding for Arizona families, and took away food assistance from Arizonans in need.
  • Andy Biggs has supported tariffs that are increasing costs on groceries, housing construction, and everyday goods.
  • Andy Biggs supports the war in Iran, which is driving up gas prices for Arizona families.
  • Andy Biggs supported a reckless and unbalanced state budget that would slash affordable housing development and kick 640,000 Arizona children off food assistance.

Beyer chose not to comment on Crompton citing the alledged play for pay scheme the Governor has been accused of.

From an objective point of view, Crompton and Republicans bringing up that issue is rich and hypocritical considering Andy Biggs sought a pardon for his suspected complicity in the Trump-inspired domestic terrorist attack at the Nation’s Capitol on January 6.

Biggs has also participated in an event at the Dream City Church, a venue that has been designated as a defendant in a criminal matter regarding the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

Biggs has also resisted releasing information from the Epstein Files and has said he would reserve judgment on the allegations of sexting and sexual impropriety of former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.

No halos or rewards for virtue are coming to Andy Biggs anytime soon.

On Bigg’s checkered past, Hobbs’s Re-Election Communications Director Beyer commented:

“It’s no surprise that after a decade in Washington, Biggs won’t tell Arizonans the truth about his own failed record. Biggs refused to comply with multiple criminal investigations into his role in helping plan the violent January 6th insurrection that led to the death of law enforcement officers and refuses to explain why he supports Washington’s cost-hiking policies. Andy Biggs will soon find out that Arizonans don’t want a career Washington politician bringing the same chaos, extremism, and higher costs from DC straight to Arizona.”

Furthermore, have the Republican Governors looked recently at the wrap sheet on their cult leader, aspiring Duce, Donald Trump’s criminal and corrupt activity, which includes two impeachments, 34 criminal convictions, being found liable for sexual assault, engaging in self-dealing in the millions of dollars, and protecting the identity of pedophiles.

Looks like their transgressions are much more damning.
