A new Pew Research poll finds the 60% of Republicans think the coronavirus pandemic — which has killed 550,000 Americans so far — has been made a bigger deal than it really is.
Because their “Dear Leader” told them so.
The anti-science, anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers of the GQP will make getting back to normal after the Coronavirus Pandemic a long and arduous task because of their sense of entitlement and selfishness to do whatever the hell they want without regard for the health and safety of others, including their own family members. Personal liberty! Freedom!
According to the latest COVID-19 Projections, in excess of 600,000 will have died from COVID-19 by just July 1, 2021.
By way of comparison, the 1918 Flu Pandemic (1918-20) killed an estimated 675,000 Americans. We are currently on a pace to equal that number by the end of this year.
In America’s deadliest war, the U.S. Civil War (1861-65), approximately 620,000 soldiers died from combat, accident, starvation, and disease. This commonly cited figure has been revised upward by some historians to an estimated 750,000 casualties. (This doesn’t include the estimated 50,000 civilian casualties during the war).
The Coronavirus Pandemic will almost certainly reach the commonly cited figure for casualties during the Civil War by the end of this year. Would Republicans also say the Civil War was “made a bigger deal than it really was”?
Possibly, since 45% of Republicans supported the seditious insurrectionists who stormed the nation’s Capitol on January 6, in a YouGov Poll taken the following day. Many of them support another Civil War.
We have identifIed America’s problem.
UPDATE: The U.S. could suffer another surge in Covid-19 cases unless pandemic safety measures are maintained, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned. CDC director warns of possible Covid surge as U.S. cases increase by 7%:
The nation is recording a seven-day average of about 57,000 new Covid-19 cases per day, a 7% jump over the last week, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during a White House news briefing on the pandemic. New hospitalizations are up “slightly” at roughly 4,700 admissions per day, she said.
“I remain deeply concerned about this trajectory,” Walensky said. “We have seen cases and hospital admissions move from historic declines to stagnations and increases. We know from prior surges that if we don’t control things now, there is a real potential for the epidemic curve to soar again.”
U.S. health officials have been pushing Americans to get vaccinated as quickly as possible, especially as highly contagious and potentially more deadly variants continue to spread. New variants are especially a concern for public health officials as they could become more resistant to antibody treatments and vaccines.
Last week, White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said B.1.1.7, the highly contagious and potentially more deadly variant first identified in the U.K., likely accounts for up to 30% of Covid-19 infections in the United States.
Walensky urged the public to “take this moment very seriously,” adding people should continue to wear masks, stay 6 feet apart and avoid crowds or traveling. “We can turn this around, but it will take all of us working together,” she added.
Even if you have been fully vaccinated, that does not mean you can’t get infected and spread this deadly disease. Wear your goddamn mask!

Stupid is as stupid does. Arizona “House, Senate discard mask requirement”, https://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2021/03/29/house-senate-discards-mask-requirement/
Calling it a matter of personal freedom, Republican state senators voted Monday to allow themselves to take off their masks.
“The last I remember, America was about the land of the free and allowing people to make decisions for themselves,” said Majority Leader Rick Gray of Sun City in voting for the change.
But Senate President Karen Fann, R-Prescott, said the new rules, approved on a party-line vote, should not be seen as a license for people to be irresponsible. [Oh, yes it is!]
An hour later, House Speaker Rusty Bowers, R-Mesa, scrapped that chamber’s face mask policy.
There, Democrats had no chance to object: Bowers is entitled to enact any policies he wants dealing with health regulations in that chamber.
But an aide to Bowers said the clear acrylic barriers between the desks of representatives on the House floor will remain unless and until the lawmakers on each side of one of the dividers both agree to removal. There are no such barriers in the Senate, with more distance between desks.
The moves come just days after Gov. Doug Ducey rescinded any remaining requirements for businesses to ensure that staff and customers are socially distanced or must wear masks.
Hi Carolyn, I find the blog for Arizona most informative. But, have you checked the ads that are included. Today’s included a t-shirt from
the Family Protection Agency—I stand for the flag, kneel for the cross—and a petition to investigate Ilhan Omar.
Marie, We bloggers don’t control the advertisement content. I’ve complained before about an objectional ad to our founder/attorney Michael Bryan. I think you need to write to him about those ads mentioned. His email is mbryan@gmail.com. Thanks for commenting.
Arizona will likely reach 17,000 deaths (and counting) if people don’t continue to mask up and stay safely away from others, despite the vaccinations.
